Trade Alert — C & WMT
I made two options trades today—one cash-secured put roll and one new covered-call position.
C — Citigroup
Action: Rolled my cash-secured put to the October 9 $130 put
Net credit: $0.76 per share / $76 per contract
The existing $130 put was in the money. Rather than take assignment today, I decided to extend the position and collect additional premium.
I'm still comfortable with the possibility of eventually owning Citigroup. My thinking is that the stock has time to recover, and while I wait, I'm continuing to collect premium.
If C remains below $130, I'll reassess the position as the new expiration approaches.
WMT — Walmart
Action: Sold 2 October 9 $107 covered calls
Net credit: $0.53 per share / $106 total
I've been holding 200 WMT shares without covered calls.
WMT has remained below $110 for some time, and I decided it was time to put those shares back to work and begin collecting premium again.
I'm comfortable with the outcome at the $107 strike and will manage the position as it develops.
Today's Total
The two trades generated approximately:
$182 in additional net option credits
They were also two very different decisions.
With C, I was managing an existing obligation and getting paid additional premium to give the position more time.
With WMT, I had 200 uncovered shares that weren't generating option income, and I decided the available premium was sufficient to put them back to work.
Execution Parameters
These are my actual trades and actual fills. I was comfortable making these trades around the prices shown above. If the stocks or options have moved materially by the time you receive this alert, I would not chase them. The economics may be different from the trades I made.
This is a record of my actual trades and actual fills, not a trade instruction or signal.
