OIJ Trade Alert — WMT | Continuing to Repair the Covered Call
October 20, 2026
Today I made another adjustment to my Walmart (WMT) covered-call position.
The Trade
Bought to close: 2 November 6 $114 calls
Sold to open: 2 November 20 $117 calls
Net debit: $0.17 per share
Total net debit: $34 before transaction fees
Why I Made the Trade
I currently own 200 shares of Walmart with a stock cost basis of $122.72 per share.
My previous covered calls had a $114 strike, considerably below my purchase price.
Rather than accept that potential sale price, I found an opportunity to move the strike up to $117 by extending the expiration two weeks.
The adjustment cost $34 in net option premium before fees, but increased my potential stock sale proceeds by $600 if both calls are assigned.
My objective is to continue moving the strike closer to my original purchase price when the economics make sense.
That doesn't mean I'll roll indefinitely or pay any price to avoid assignment.
Each adjustment has to justify itself.
For now, I considered the additional $3 per share in potential selling price worth the $0.17 per share debit.
Current Position
200 WMT shares
Stock cost basis: $122.72
2 covered calls outstanding
Strike: $117
Expiration: November 20, 2026
I'm continuing to manage the position patiently, without forcing an immediate exit or accepting a large debit just to reach my original cost basis.
Execution Parameters
This alert documents my actual transaction. Option prices and available roll credits or debits can change rapidly. The economics described reflect my reported fill, not necessarily prices available to another trader.
