TRADE ALERT — MU (Micron Technology)
Covered Call Roll

I rolled my September 18 $965 call out to the September 23 $970 call.

Net credit: $9.00 per share ($900)

I extended the position five days while also moving the strike price up from $965 to $970.

Why I Made the Trade

I liked the economics of this roll.

For extending the position five days, I collected another $9.00 per share in premium, while also increasing my potential sale price on the shares by $5 per share if they're ultimately called away.

That gives me $900 in additional option premium plus another $500 of potential stock proceeds if MU is eventually called away at $970 rather than $965.

I'm comfortable continuing to own MU, but I'm also comfortable having the shares called away at the new $970 strike.

This is also my first trade while traveling. I'm at the airport preparing to leave for Europe, so this is the beginning of the real-world test I mentioned in Sunday's Journal: managing my positions the same way I normally would while away from my usual setup.

Execution Parameters

The prices reported in Options Income Journal are my actual execution prices.

For current trade alerts, stock and option prices can move materially between the time I execute a trade and the time an alert reaches you.

If the economics of a trade have changed, do not chase my reported fill. Options Income Journal documents the trades I make in my own account; these are not trade instructions or signals.
