TRADE ALERT — SPCX, TSLA & WMT
Three Covered Call Rolls
I made three covered-call rolls this afternoon, all within a short period of time.
SPCX (SpaceX)
I rolled my September 18 $152.50 call out to the September 25 $152.50 call.
Net credit: $2.90 per share ($290)
I kept the $152.50 strike and extended the position one week while collecting additional premium.
TSLA (Tesla)
I rolled my September 18 $365 call out to the September 23 $365 call.
Net credit: $4.35 per share ($435)
I kept the $365 strike and extended the position five days while collecting additional premium.
WMT (Walmart)
I rolled my September 18 $110 call out to the September 25 $110 call.
Net credit: $0.45 per share ($45)
I kept the $110 strike and extended the position one week while collecting additional premium.
Why I Made the Trades
All three positions were approaching their September 18 expirations, and I liked the opportunity to extend them while collecting additional credits.
I didn't change any of the strike prices. In each case, I was comfortable continuing to own the shares at their current call strikes, and the available premium was enough for me to extend the positions.
These trades generated a combined $770 in additional option premium.
I'm also making these trades while traveling in Europe, which is part of the real-world test I mentioned in the Sunday Journal. The three opportunities appeared close together, so I managed the positions just as I would have from home.
Execution Parameters
I was comfortable making these trades around the prices shown above. If the stocks or options have moved materially by the time you receive this alert, I would not chase them. The economics may be different from the trades I made.
